The overall topic of the working groups was the area of tension between REACh implementation and the sectoral environmental legislation for the authorities in the Member States.

The keynote speakers outlined the consequences of REACH for existing environmental surveillance and legislation referring to the outcome of actual research and development projects:  

  • Martin Führ (Technical University Darmstadt) gave a general overview on potential synergy effects.

  • Christian Heidorn (EUROSTAT) outlined the activities in the EUORSTAT Project „Baseline Study“and the monitoring approach at European level to evaluate the effects of REACH.
